Top 5 Beauty Trends at The New Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2013

How do you like our coverage of the recently concluded The New Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week RTW 2013? While we’ve had a blast attending the shows and bringing you the best collections to watch out for, we’ve got one final thing to do – bring you a closer look at the top beauty looks that the teams from Bobbi Brown and L’Oréal Professionnel put together.

Bright puckers have most recently been the star of the major Spring 2013 fashion shows. But while pink and classic blue-based reds have seen their moments, it’s searing orange and coral reds that remain a firm favourite, at least on our shores. At KLFW, they were paired with strong, shaped brows, dark eyeliner, a touch of coral blush and slicked back hair.

With the barest whisper of colour on freshly scrubbed, dewy skin and softly sculpted cheekbones, the looks on many runways echoed Spring 2013 beauty trends. Far from dated, these are looks timeless in their clean, wearable appeal, and at the shows, they were paired with pared down looks for balance, and boldly patterned collections to let the designs shine.

To get the look, mix moisturiser or a little drop of face oil into your foundation for a youthful glow. Line your eyes softly with brown powder eyeshadow. For colour on the eyes, pick taupe or a rusty matte red blended into the outer corners. Contour lightly with a matte bronzer and highlighter and finish with a tiny bit of pink-nude lipstick dabbed on top of lip balm. Strong, handsome brows are the perfect accompaniment.

Forget a little bit of smudged eyeliner for that morning after mess. Designers at KLFW were all about inky black, graphic eyeliner, taken way past the outer corners of the eye and blended minimally at the edges so it remained a solid, dark mass. Whether paired with barely-there brows at Ezzati Amira, bold lips at Rico Rinaldi or a stark, pale face at Khoon Hooi, this is the perfect runway to real life party look. You don’t even have to tone it down!

Headpieces & Hair Accessories

From Carven Ong’s bevy of crowns and Jovian Mandagie’s fascinators to the turbans at Rubaq and everything else in between – hair accessories were a hit at KLFW. Want to make a statement this season? Fashion your own turban out of scarves or get your hands on a sparkly Alia Bastamam original. Here at TiC, we’re head over heels for the sequinned, iridescent cat ears with attached veils from Sereni & Shentel at Jonathan Liang, set atop textured side braids. Get your hands on them here.

For a KLFW-inspired eye that’s truly unique, we loved the red, winged eye make-up at Nurita Hartith and Zeal, topped with black liquid eyeliner, dark brows and a bare face. Attention stealing and sharp, yet in a relatively neutral shade, this look is one look that we can see on everyone from daring creative types to festival goers and party-hopping It-girls.
